PoT (Pull-out-test)

Pull-out testing is a general term used to describe the assessment of the geotechnical load-bearing capacity of structural elements used in the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.

These elements are typically piles, columns, or anchors, each exhibiting different geometric characteristics and installation methods (C, I profiles, spiral piles, concrete piles, etc.)

The test consists of incremental, asynchronous force application to the piles/columns in the vertical and horizontal directions until the previously defined displacements or load magnitudes are reached (the so-called “failure criterion”). The failure criterion is always defined according to the specifications of the test project.

Depending on project requirements, GeoTec Insitu can conduct tests on piles or columns subjected to:

  • Vertical tensile force
  • Vertical compressive force
  • Horizontal force

For testing, we utilize specially designed and calibrated hydraulic kits (pump, press, and transmission system) that apply the required loads. Displacements are monitored using digital measuring gauges (with analog backup), enabling real-time displacement readings during testing.

GeoTec Insitu maintains a range of hydraulic systems with different nominal capacities, allowing us to accommodate various project specifications and verify the required bearing capacity through testing.

In addition to load tests, the following services are often requested and can be provided by GeoTec Insitu:

  • Soil saturation around the pile or column prior to testing
  • Design and preparation of test projects, including definition of the failure criterion, based on results from the Geotechnical Report

GeoTec Insitu takes pride in delivering reliable, precise, and project-tailored testing solutions to meet all client requirements.
